Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) in Florid

Get your energy, drive and strength back, with a plan built on your own lab results.

Bioidentical hormones have the same chemical structure as the hormones your body makes, such as estradiol, progesterone and testosterone. BHRT uses them to relieve symptoms of menopause, perimenopause and low testosterone. BHRT Delivered provides testing and treatment to Florida adults online and in person at our Palm Beach County clinic.

What "bioidentical" means

A hormone is bioidentical when its molecule matches the human hormone exactly. Most are made in a laboratory from plant sources such as yams or soy. Some older hormone therapies used hormones that are similar to human hormones but not identical, such as conjugated estrogens or synthetic progestins.

“Bioidentical” describes the molecule. It does not mean a product is natural, custom-made or free of risk.

What we prescribe

Testosterone cypionate injections, a bioidentical form of testosterone.

Bioidentical hormone pellets, placed under the skin at our clinic and releasing hormone steadily for several months. Our pellets are compounded by FarmaKeio and EVEXIAS. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

Your provider will explain which option fits you and why.

Who BHRT can help

Women with hot flashes, night sweats, poor sleep, vaginal dryness or mood changes around menopause. Hormone therapy is the most effective treatment for hot flashes and night sweats. It is generally safest when started before age 60 or within 10 years of menopause. See hormone therapy for women. Men with symptoms and blood tests that confirm low testosterone. See hormone therapy for men.

Risks

Bioidentical hormones are assumed to carry the same risks as other hormone therapy until studies show otherwise.

Estrogen can raise the risk of blood clots and stroke, more so with tablets than with patches or gels.

Women who still have a uterus need progesterone alongside estrogen to protect the uterine lining.

Long-term combined estrogen and progestogen therapy is linked to a small increase in breast cancer risk.

Testosterone risks for men are covered on the TRT page.

Hormone therapy is usually not advised after breast cancer, a blood clot, a stroke or heart attack, or with unexplained vaginal bleeding or active liver disease.
